Can old mascara make your eyes sore?

I wear contacts. I dont know if its the contacts or if my mascara is too old. Any ideas?Can old mascara make your eyes sore?
Yes, old mascara can irritate your eyes. The older your makeup is the more bacteria it will collect. Also, when your makeup gets old, it looses its ';magic'; and in return its natural results can be horrible. Its like drinking milk thats been out for a week. One can only imagine the after effect.

Yes but it can also leave it swollen from the bacteria that can build in the mascara or mascara brush. i probably wouldn't use it if I were you.
If your mascara is older than six months, toss it. Bacteria grows in the tube so you should change it every six months. Mascara is cheap enough, especially with a coupon, so why take a chance on an eye infection?

Usually when I have sore eyes it means that there is either a small rip in my contact or it is just time to change them. Were your eyes sore before you put your contacts in?? If so, then it is probably best to give your eyes a rest and if it persits then you should see a doctor.


Generally old mascara can be bad because it doesn't come off as easily and the ';scrubbing'; on sore eyes will only make it worse.

It can give you a serious eye infections. Throw it out. You should throw out mascara after 3 months because bacteria builds up and can cause infections and other eye problems.
First, it wouldn't hurt to change your contacts out.





Mascara can most definitely make your eyes sore. If it has passed it's self life, it could have bacteria in it which is easily passed to your eyes.





Buy new mascara! Or at least stop using your old mascara.

yeh depends on how much u wear and how gd ur mascara is,use a small amount and when u hav dsays off dont wear alot of makup and then ur skin and eyes will look better
yeah if its over like 6 months old throw it out and get new mascara.
no, i just found my old mascara from a year ago and I used it because I was in a hurry. It was fine, i think it's your contact. Change the water, or get a different brand.
if your eyes don't hurt before you put the mascara on then it's the mascara. i wear contacts and stuff like that hurts my eyes too. i have have to use Kiss Me eyeliner that i got at my eye doctor's office. that brand also sells mascara.

OLd mascara can cause infection in your eye which can make it sore. Also try hypoallergenic mascara it is easier on your eyes. That is what my eye Dr recommened for me
Mascara-like all make-up has a shelf life. Bacteria can accumulate and you don't want that near your eyes especially if you wear contacts. Err on the side of caution and get a new mascara
